This online exhibition recounts the career of Malini Shankar. SHE SEES celebrates women’s contributions to the maritime industry through capturing the stories of contemporary female professionals globally. Through captivating interviews and stunning photographs, we delve into their stories, bridging the maritime past, present, and the future.
Perhaps shipping was Malini Shankar’s destiny. Early in her civil service career, she tried to book accommodation at a government guesthouse in the Andaman Islands but there were no vacancies because of a VIP guest. “That VIP turned out to be the Director General of Shipping. I remember thinking – I want that job.”
