The Lloyd’s Register Foundation Heritage Centre is excited to announce the launch of its new TikTok account. Our increasing social media presence is a part of our new engagement strategy to connect with audiences through increasing video production and new innovative digital techniques.

Our TikTok account adds to the Heritage Centre's existing social media presence on Bluesky, Instagram and YouTube, where Heritage posts regular updates and insights on our collection, digitisation progress, archival finds, and promotion of events.

The new account has already achieved viral success with one of its first videos about the Roboscanner reaching over 250K views and growing! Viewers have also enjoyed seeing old Lloyd's Register (LR) company stamps, attracting the attention of over 15k people.

With the launch of its TikTok account, Heritage aims to expand its reach and appeal to younger audiences, providing a new way to engage with Lloyd Register’s rich heritage, resources and collections. Viewers can expect to see a variety of video content on the Heritage Centre's TikTok, including behind-the-scenes views of the archive, learning the history behind items that have been donated, and maritime history.

The Heritage Centre's account will feature a range of videos. This month, look forward to seeing:

  • Delving into the history of a 100+ year old protectograph in the Heritage Centre's collection
  • Sharing the eventful story of the 1872 tea race between the Cutty Sark and the Thermopylae
  • A behind-the-scenes look of what it’s like to work in and navigate an archive
