In 2023, we partnered with the International Congress of Maritime Museums (ICMM) to deliver a programme aimed at promoting ocean literacy and connecting maritime history to contemporary issues such as sustainability, climate change, and ocean health.

We partnered with Historic England to deliver an exhibition that boosted awareness of the role that women played in shipbuilding and marine engineering in north east England during the First World War, as part of the Rewriting Women into Maritime History initiative.

In 2018, we partnered with the Blaydes Maritime Centre of the University of Hull to fully fund two PhD projects through the Lloyd's Register Foundation Thomas Chapman Scholarship. We also partnered with the Blaydes Maritime Centre to appraise the archival holdings of the Lloyd's Register Foundation Heritage Centre and selected repositories in east central and northeast England.

In 2022, we partnered with the Ocean Decade Heritage Network to integrate ocean science, heritage, and public engagement through the Cultural Heritage Framework Programme (CHFP), supporting the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030).

We partnered with the Centre for Port Cities and Maritime Cultures at the University of Portsmouth to learn lessons from past maritime energy transitions. This includes fully funding four PhD scholarships. We also partnered with the University of Portsmouth to fully fund a PhD on Lloyd’s Register Surveyors in China, 1869-1918.

In 2023, we partnered with The Ocean Foundation to disseminate evidence of threats to underwater cultural heritage (UCH) from trawl fishing, potentially polluting historic wrecks, and deep-sea mining, and to engage international stakeholders for urgent action.
