World Monuments Fund Britain

We partnered with World Monuments Fund Britain in 2025 to deliver a programme that establishes hubs across the Global South that bring together local site managers and international experts.

The University of the Arctic (UArctic)

We partnered with UArctic in 2024 to launch a new research fellowship programme focused on Arctic maritime safety, connecting historical insights to the current challenges to the safety of people in the Arctic.

Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA)

We partnered with MOLA in 2024 to deliver Coasts in Mind, a citizen science project mapping 100 years of coastal change through community knowledge, creating an open-access archive to inform resilience and future coastal management.

National Maritime Museum

In 2018, we partnered with the National Maritime Museum to promote ocean literacy and connect maritime history to contemporary issues such as trade, migration, technology and environment through sponsoring a Curator of Contemporary Maritime role.

CITiZAN

We partnered with Coastal and InterTidal Zone Archaeological Network (CITiZAN) in 2019 to widen access of Lloyd's Register Foundation Heritage Centre archive and resources that incorporates citizen science, public outreach and higher education opportunity

International Congress of Maritime Museums (ICMM)

In 2023, we partnered with the International Congress of Maritime Museums (ICMM) to deliver a programme aimed at promoting ocean literacy and connecting maritime history to contemporary issues such as sustainability, climate change, and ocean health.

Historic England

We partnered with Historic England to deliver an exhibition that boosted awareness of the role that women played in shipbuilding and marine engineering in north east England during the First World War, as part of the Rewriting Women into Maritime History initiative.

Blaydes Maritime Centre, University of Hull

In 2018, we partnered with the Blaydes Maritime Centre of the University of Hull to fully fund two PhD projects through the Lloyd's Register Foundation Thomas Chapman Scholarship. We also partnered with the Blaydes Maritime Centre to appraise the archival holdings of the Lloyd's Register Foundation Heritage Centre and selected repositories in east central and northeast England.

Ocean Decade Heritage Network

In 2022, we partnered with the Ocean Decade Heritage Network to integrate ocean science, heritage, and public engagement through the Cultural Heritage Framework Programme (CHFP), supporting the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030).

University of Portsmouth

We partnered with the Centre for Port Cities and Maritime Cultures at the University of Portsmouth to learn lessons from past maritime energy transitions. This includes fully funding four PhD scholarships. We also partnered with the University of Portsmouth to fully fund a PhD on Lloyd’s Register Surveyors in China, 1869-1918.

The Ocean Foundation

In 2023, we partnered with The Ocean Foundation to disseminate evidence of threats to underwater cultural heritage (UCH) from trawl fishing, potentially polluting historic wrecks, and deep-sea mining, and to engage international stakeholders for urgent action.

University of Plymouth

In 2023, we partnered with the University of Plymouth and the Philip Nicholas Trust to jointly fund a PhD project into recovering oral histories of shipwrecked mariners from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
